This afternoon, firefighters from Zion received backup from Newport Township, Beach Park, and Winthrop Harbor as they tackled a severe house fire on Ezra Avenue at 2408. The structure, which was unoccupied, was fully engulfed by flames and eventually collapsed.
I arrived just moments after the first emergency vehicles, and I managed to snap a few photos with my phone. The situation was intense, and the efforts of the firefighters were evident as they worked quickly to control the blaze.
