The Midlothian Fire Department, located within MABAS Division 22, has recently been added to our website. Known for its unique setup, Midlothian operates two distinct fire stations. Station 1 is manned by full-time firefighters, providing round-the-clock coverage, whereas Station 2 relies on part-time personnel to serve the community. As a proud Pierce department, Midlothian boasts an impressive fleet consisting of three engines and two squad units, ensuring efficient emergency response across the region.
Station 2, situated at 14700 S. Homan Avenue, plays a vital role in the department's operations. The station’s layout and equipment reflect the dedication of its part-time crew to maintaining readiness and public safety. Dennis McGuire, Jr., captured the essence of this facility in his photograph, highlighting the importance of every station in the department's mission.
One of the most recent additions to Midlothian’s fleet is their 2011 Pierce Saber pumper, designated as Engine 4. This state-of-the-art vehicle is a testament to the department’s commitment to modernization and effectiveness. Karl Klotz beautifully documented this impressive piece of firefighting machinery, showcasing its sleek design and advanced capabilities.
Another highlight of the department’s resources is Squad 2707. This specialized vehicle is equipped with cutting-edge tools and technology, essential for handling complex emergencies. Dennis McGuire, Jr.’s photograph captures the Squad 2707 in all its glory, emphasizing the department’s focus on versatility and preparedness.
Engine 2723, a classic Seagrave model from 1973, also remains a cornerstone of Midlothian’s firefighting arsenal. With a powerful 1,250-GPM pump, 300-gallon water capacity, and a 54-foot ladder, this vehicle has been a reliable asset over the years. Larry Shapiro’s image highlights the meticulous restoration work done by Pierce in 1994, which breathed new life into this vintage apparatus. The updated Pierce Arrow cab not only enhances comfort but also improves operational efficiency.
The Midlothian Fire Department continues to evolve, blending tradition with innovation to provide top-tier service to its community. Each piece of equipment tells a story of dedication, resilience, and progress, making Midlothian a shining example of modern firefighting excellence.
