Midlothian added to the site

I recently had the chance to visit the Midlothian Fire Department in MABAS Division 22, which has now been added to our list of featured departments. This department is quite unique because it operates out of two distinct fire stations—Station 1 and Station 2. Station 1 is manned by full-time firefighters who are always on duty, ready to respond to emergencies. In contrast, Station 2 relies on part-time personnel who step in when needed. The Midlothian Fire Department is equipped with state-of-the-art vehicles from Pierce, including three engines and two squad units that provide essential support during operations. One of the newer additions to their fleet is a 2011 Pierce Saber pumper, officially designated as Engine 4. This impressive piece of equipment was captured in a recent photo by Karl Klotz, showcasing its sleek design and advanced features. Another notable vehicle in their arsenal is Squad 2707, which was photographed by Dennis McGuire, Jr., capturing its robust build and functionality. For those interested in older models, there's also a classic 1973 P-Series Seagrave engine that has seen many years of service. This particular vehicle underwent a significant rebuild by Pierce back in 1994, receiving a modernized Pierce Arrow cab. Its powerful 1,250-GPM pump and substantial 300-gallon water capacity make it an invaluable asset in firefighting efforts. Larry Shapiro’s photograph beautifully highlights the vehicle’s classic charm alongside its upgraded capabilities. While exploring the department, I couldn’t help but notice the dedication and professionalism displayed by the firefighters at both stations. It’s clear that they take pride in maintaining not only their facilities but also their equipment, ensuring they are always prepared for any situation. Midlothian Fire Department serves as an excellent example of how combining tradition with innovation can create a formidable force capable of handling any emergency thrown their way.
