Naperville reassignments …. requires a scorecard

Several months ago, we published an update on the Naperville Fire Department to the site. A number of photographers visited the department at different times to capture the latest equipment and the current layout of companies across all stations. Some of the apparatus had already been relocated or reassigned since they were last photographed a year or so ago, but with the help of Lt. Andy Hilk from the Naperville FD, everything was updated and accurately reflected for the post. Well, shortly after the initial publication, we received word that the department wasn’t fully done with their reassignments and more changes were expected. Bill Friedrich shared some new information regarding the recent shifts in station assignments. - Medic 9 is currently out of service. - Medic 1 is now operating the 2007 IHC/Medtec unit that used to be Medic 9. - Squad 1 (1997 E-One) has returned to Station 8 and is now known as Squad 8 — once again. - The 2008 Crimson engine that was previously assigned to Engine 8 has been moved back to Station 1 as Engine 1. - The 2009 Crimson quint from Truck 10 is now operating as Truck 5. - The 2005 E-One tower ladder that was once Truck 5 is now a spare unit. - The 1994 E-One tower ladder without a pump, which had been in reserve, has been decommissioned and will likely be sold. - Engine 10 is now using a 2005 E-One Typhoon. - The TRT trailer is being relocated to Station 10. These updates reflect ongoing efforts by the Naperville Fire Department to optimize their resources and better serve the community. It's always interesting to see how departments evolve over time, especially when it comes to apparatus placement and station organization. We’ll continue to keep you updated as more changes are made.
