Townhouse fire in Plainfield, 9-15-24

From Chris Skrabel: September 15th, Sunday afternoon, at 14606 Thomas Jefferson Drive in Plainfield. I just witnessed quite an intense situation unfold. There was a fire in a townhouse, and the smoke was thick enough to see from quite a distance. It’s definitely one of those moments where you feel both helpless and grateful for the firefighters who rushed in to handle the situation. I took some photos while standing nearby. The first image shows the front of the townhouse engulfed in smoke, making it hard to see much detail. The second and third pictures capture more of the surrounding area, with several fire trucks lined up, their lights flashing against the gray clouds of smoke. The firefighters were working quickly, hoses stretched out, trying to get the flames under control. In the fourth photo, you can see a bit more clearly how the fire affected the structure. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong. The last picture gives a better view of the entire scene, with multiple emergency vehicles on standby, ready to assist if needed. It’s always humbling to watch professionals step in during emergencies like this. The Plainfield Fire Department did an incredible job today, and I’m glad no one seemed to be hurt. It’s moments like these that make you appreciate the work they do every day. Chris Skrabel
