This figure includes subcontractor bids, a construction contingency, fees for the construction manager, and bond costs. When additional expenses such as planning, design, furnishings, and administration are factored in, the overall project totals approximately $2.98 million—just shy of the allocated $3 million budget. There remains some uncertainty regarding potential financial assistance from the state, which has proposed a commitment of up to $575,000 via its capital plan. While Palatine officials remain hopeful, they emphasize that the project must proceed independently of this funding. As Village Manager Reid Ottesen stated, "We're planning for the worst-case scenario where we receive nothing." He estimates the likelihood of receiving this aid at around 50/50. However, these savings could be offset if the village decides against waiving its requirement for automatic sprinklers in the non-combustible attic area. The new satellite fire station aims to replace the existing Dundee Road station, which will eventually be occupied by the Masonic Lodge. Operational readiness for the new station is expected by March or April, contingent upon successful completion of all construction milestones.
