Last night, the Berwyn Fire Department responded to a house fire on Oak Park Avenue. The flames quickly spread, and by the time firefighters arrived, it was clear this wasn’t going to be an easy job. Josh Boyajian sent over a few photos and shared some details about what happened. He mentioned that upon arrival, the situation was escalated to a MABAS alert—a regional emergency response system. An officer who was first on the scene made a daring rescue. As soon as he kicked open the door, he found someone inside who had been overcome by thick smoke. It was a risky move, but thanks to his quick thinking, the person was saved just in time. By then, the fire was mostly under control, though there were still smoldering embers to deal with. I’ve included a few photos taken by Josh after the worst of the fire had been extinguished. These images give you a glimpse into the intensity of the situation and the aftermath. You can see the charred remains, the damage to the structure, and the firefighters working tirelessly to ensure everything is secure. Despite the chaos, they managed to keep everyone safe, and that’s what matters most. Here’s hoping the community comes together to support those affected by this tragedy.
