Â·Multi-product or emissions-related fraud requires Audi to recall 127,000 vehicles

According to the German "Sunday Photo" report, German regulators have recently discovered the problem of "illegal mechanical devices shutting down the cleaning system" in the Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5 and Q7 models. In addition, the agency also threatened to ban the Audi A8, which will be launched before mid-2017.

According to media reports, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority has instructed the Volkswagen Group to recall 127,000 Audi new cars equipped with diesel engine V6 TDI.

The newspaper also reported that Audi must submit a specific plan for "how to handle these controls" to the Federal Motor Transport Authority of Germany before February 2. It is understood that the bureau is suffering from the automaker's strategy of "claiming that the emission control system will only run in the test phase of the car and will be closed after the car is on the road."

Volkswagen has had many emissions fraud scandals in the past two years. In 2015, Volkswagen was proven to have tampered with diesel engine emissions testing results through software. The company later admitted that it installed the software on 11 million vehicles worldwide and agreed to pay a total of $15 billion in settlement costs. The US government has instructed the company to recall nearly 500,000 Volkswagen and Audi cars that were installed between 2009 and 2015 with emissions fraud software to meet US federal emissions standards.

Another scandal occurred in July 2017, when media reported that top German automakers, including Volkswagen, collaborated on matters such as diesel emissions treatment systems designed for use on diesel vehicles. After media reports, the European Commission said it would check all allegations involving price manipulation suspicions.
