The Chicago Fire Department was called to a major fire near 119th Street and Avenue O in the Hegewisch neighborhood around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Flames and thick smoke were visible for several blocks, indicating the intensity of the blaze. The structure, located in an industrial zone, had its entire roof destroyed by the fire. Later that morning, at around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, a rekindle was reported as additional smoke emerged from the damaged building.
