The Chicago Fire Department was called to a major fire near 119th Street and Avenue O in the Hegewisch neighborhood around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Flames and thick smoke were visible for several blocks, drawing attention from nearby residents. The structure involved was part of an industrial complex, and witnesses reported that the roof had completely collapsed. A rekindle was detected early Thursday morning at around 6:45 a.m., with additional smoke rising from the damaged building.
