Recently, the core cracking gas compressor of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company's 600,000-ton ethylene renovation and expansion project successfully completed a 13-hour trial run. All performance tests met the technical specifications, marking a major milestone in the project's progress. This successful test run is a critical step toward the full-scale commissioning of the facility.
The smooth operation of the cracking gas compressor is essential for the next phase of the project, which includes purging, replacing, and drying the system. Despite challenges such as tight deadlines and delayed equipment deliveries, the construction teams managed to complete the installation of the compressor, along with the associated utility systems and electrical instrumentation within four months.
During the trial run, the ethylene engineering team at Lanzhou Petrochemical closely collaborated with the PC contractor and construction company to address several key issues. For instance, they resolved the problem of the front and rear condensers being positioned too low during the turbine test run, and corrected the inaccurate low-level alarm in the high-level oil tank. Additionally, various manholes, blind flanges, and short pipes were installed and removed to ensure optimal conditions for the compressor’s trial operation.
This achievement reflects the strong coordination among all parties involved and highlights the project's steady progress toward its completion. The successful trial run is a positive sign that the project is on track to meet its targets and enhance the company’s production capacity in the coming years.
