HJ3 Receives PEMEX Approval

HJ3’s CarbonSeal™ Industrial Composite Systems Receive PEMEX Approval for Steel Pipe Repair and Reinforcement

HJ3 has reached a major milestone with the approval of its CarbonSeal™ Industrial Composite Systems by PEMEX, one of Mexico's most respected energy companies. This endorsement marks a significant step forward in the application of HJ3’s advanced carbon fiber technology for repairing and reinforcing both low-risk and high-risk corroded or damaged steel pipelines. The system is now approved for use across all stages of the oil and gas industry, including onshore, offshore, exploration, refining, transmission, and distribution pipelines.

"This is a huge accomplishment for HJ3," said Jim Butler, President and Co-founder of the company. "With over 10,000 successful applications worldwide across civil and industrial infrastructure, this approval opens up new opportunities in the Latin American petrochemical and gas markets. Our carbon fiber solutions offer superior strength per layer, helping companies like PEMEX save significantly compared to traditional repair methods or full replacements."

The qualification process, led by Instituto Mexicano Del Petroleo (IMP), involved extensive testing under ASME PCC-2 Article 4.1 Appendix III and ISO/TS 24817 standards. HJ3’s CarbonSeal™ system passed rigorous strength and durability tests, including a burst test that demonstrated its ability to withstand internal pressures above 5,000 psi—even when applied to pipes with 80–90% wall loss.

2012 has been a landmark year for HJ3 Composite Technologies, marking a decade of innovation and progress. The company was recently awarded the Arizona Innovation Challenge Grant for the second consecutive year, beating out over 400 competitors. Additionally, HJ3 was named "Technology Company of the Year" by the Minority and Small Business Alliance of Southern Arizona. With more than 25 years of large-scale testing and 20,000 hours of product evaluation, HJ3 continues to deliver high-performance materials to leading global firms such as ExxonMobil, Shell Oil, British Petroleum, and now PEMEX.

PEMEX, officially known as Petróleos Mexicanos, is the largest company in Mexico and Latin America. It plays a crucial role in the country's economic development as the main contributor to national revenue. As one of the few global oil companies that manages every aspect of petroleum production—from exploration to refining and distribution—PEMEX is a key player in the energy sector.

Welding Products

1. Welding Machines - A welding machine is an essential tool for any welding job. It is used to create a welding arc that melts the metal being joined, allowing it to fuse together.

2. Welding Electrodes - Welding electrodes are metal rods that are used to conduct electricity and create an arc. They are coated with a flux that helps to protect the weld from contamination and oxidation.

3. Welding Wire - Welding wire is used in the MIG welding process to feed the welding arc with a continuous supply of wire. It is available in different thicknesses and materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel.

4. Welding Helmets - Welding helmets are designed to protect the welder's eyes and face from the intense light and heat produced during welding. They come in different styles and designs, including auto-darkening helmets that automatically adjust to the brightness of the welding arc.

5. Welding Gloves - Welding gloves are used to protect the welder's hands from heat, sparks, and other hazards associated with welding. They are made from materials such as leather and Kevlar and come in different sizes and styles.

6. Welding Safety Glasses - Welding safety glasses are designed to protect the welder's eyes from the intense light and UV radiation produced during welding. They are available in different shades and styles.

7. Welding Filler Metals - Welding filler metals are used to add material to the weld joint to create a strong, durable bond. They come in different materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze.

8. Welding Clamps - Welding clamps are used to hold the metal being welded in place during the welding process. They come in different sizes and styles, including C-clamps, locking pliers, and magnetic clamps.

9. Welding Flux - Welding flux is used to protect the weld from contamination and oxidation during the welding process. It is available in different types, including powder, paste, and liquid.

10. Welding Gas - Welding gas is used in the TIG and MIG welding processes to shield the welding arc from contamination and oxidation. It is available in different types, including argon, helium, and carbon dioxide.
