Domestic Mercedes-Benz will definitely not determine the sale date for the specific date this month.

In recent developments, it has been reported that the first domestically produced Mercedes-Benz model is set to go offline this month, although the exact date remains unconfirmed. According to sources from Beijing Benz, the project, which was initially planned back in 2003, took nearly two years to move from concept to final release. After years of anticipation, the highly-anticipated model is now entering a new phase, though the precise timeline is still under discussion. Currently, construction at the Yizhuang factory is nearing completion, and all parties involved have confirmed the plan for the domestic Mercedes-Benz to go offline this month. Earlier reports suggested the official launch might be on the 9th, but according to Beijing Mercedes-Benz, the specific date has not yet been finalized. However, the process is already in motion, with testing and problem identification underway. Earlier this month, the National Development and Reform Commission released the 109th batch of new vehicle listings, and the Beijing Benz E280 was included under the Mercedes-Benz brand with the model number BJ7300. This marked a key milestone, as it confirmed that the model had passed the final domestic approval stage. Despite this, the company has remained relatively quiet, avoiding large-scale promotional campaigns, which contrasts with the high expectations from the market. On November 30, an official from Beijing Mercedes-Benz Daimler Chrysler Automobile Co., Ltd. shared updates with CPPCC members, stating that the civil engineering work for the Mercedes-Benz sedan project, led by Beijing Jeep Automobile Co., Ltd., has been completed. The first domestically produced Mercedes-Benz sedan is expected to go offline on the 9th of this month. It is understood that the initial model will be the 3.0L E280, with a local production rate of around 40% and emissions meeting Euro 5 standards. Preliminary certification tests and product announcements have already been completed. However, due to constraints on parts management and ongoing factory construction, the initial production volume is limited to 20,000 units. Over time, Beijing Benz aims to reach annual production and sales targets of 80,000 to 100,000 vehicles. While the pricing details for the domestic Mercedes-Benz have not been officially announced, it is expected to follow international pricing trends. Mercedes-Benz models are typically priced about 15% higher than BMWs in the same segment. The E280’s main competitors in the Chinese market include the BMW 530 and the new Audi A6L. With the BMW 530 currently priced between 590,000 and 618,000 yuan, and the Audi A6L 3.0 at 559,300 yuan, industry insiders speculate that the domestic E280 could be priced around 650,000 yuan.
