Hey there,
I just came across some fascinating information about a 1991 Ford/Sauber rescue vehicle that has quite an interesting history. Bill Friedrich shared these details, along with some great photos. This particular vehicle started its service life with the River Grove Fire Department as their Squad 564. After spending some time there, it was later sold to the Franklin Park Fire Department, where it became known as their Rescue 1. Eventually, after serving Franklin Park for several years, it made its way to the O’Fallon Underwater Search and Recovery Team in St. Clair County, Illinois.
Check out these images—they really capture the essence of how this vehicle evolved through its different roles over the years. First up, we have the River Grove days, when it was Squad 564. You can see the distinct markings and setup that were unique to the River Grove Fire Department. Next, we have it in its Franklin Park phase, now labeled as Rescue 1. The changes in livery and equipment reflect its new responsibilities. Finally, the last image shows its current role with the O’Fallon team, now called Dive 1, still going strong after all these years.
It's amazing to think about how one vehicle can serve so many different purposes and communities. Each stage of its life tells a story about the evolving needs of emergency services in those areas. I wonder what kind of adventures this old Ford/Sauber has seen throughout its career!
Take a look at the pictures below. They really bring the journey of this vehicle to life:

Anyway, I thought this was pretty cool! Let me know if you’ve ever heard of any other vehicles with such an extensive history.
