According to Xinhua News Agency, a newly developed micro-intelligent robot from Nanjing University of Science and Technology is capable of seeing, thinking, walking correctly, and avoiding obstacles. This advanced robot is designed to take on dangerous tasks in various environments, reducing the need for human involvement in hazardous situations.
Professor Yang Jingyu, the lead researcher on the project, explains that the robot integrates a mechanical body, control system, sensors, and an intelligent information processing unit. It can be equipped with different operating systems depending on the specific tasks required in different environments. Its main purpose is to replace humans in performing complex or risky operations.
Once deployed in a dangerous area, the robot uses its sensors to analyze the surroundings and sends real-time data back to its operator via a wireless communication system. It can make autonomous decisions, choose safe paths, and respond immediately to commands from its user. If the terrain becomes too challenging, the robot is durable enough to withstand impacts and even roll over to continue its mission.
This versatile robot has a wide range of applications. It can be fitted with specialized instruments to measure pollution levels, making it ideal for entering nuclear or chemical contamination zones. It can also be used in disaster scenarios to assess casualties, locate safe routes, and guide evacuees. By taking on these high-risk tasks, the robot helps protect human workers from harmful environments, improving safety and efficiency in critical operations.
