· China’s automobile production and sales last year exceeded 28 million units, ranking first in the world for eight consecutive years.

The reporter learned from the China Automobile Industry Association information conference that in 2016, the production and sales of automobiles were 28.119 million and 28.528 million, respectively, an increase of 14.5% and 13.7% over the same period of the previous year. The annual production and sales of automobiles exceeded 28 million units, ranking the first in the world for eight consecutive years.

For the characteristics of China's auto industry economic operation in 2016, Chen Shihua, assistant secretary general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, concluded that production and sales have reached record highs, passenger car production and sales have grown at a high speed, trucks have driven commercial vehicle growth, and new energy vehicles have increased by more than 50%. The market share of Chinese brand passenger cars continued to increase. The growth rate of the top ten enterprises was slightly lower than that of the industry. The decline in automobile exports was narrowed year-on-year. The operating income of key enterprises continued to grow, the production and sales of motorcycles continued to decline, and the export of motorcycles declined.

Xu Haidong, assistant secretary-general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, released the 2017 China auto market forecast. It is estimated that the total sales volume of China's automobiles in 2017 will be about 29.4 million, of which 750,000 will be exported and 1 million will be imported. The annual demand for the automobile market is about 29.65 million.
