Accord Engine Fault Cases


A Honda Accord CD5 sedan suddenly appeared to fluctuate between 800 and 1200 r/min during use. When the car cold starts, the engine speed is 1200r/min, which is the high idle speed of the cold engine. At this time, the engine runs smoothly and there is no abnormality. After about 5 minutes of running, the engine speed fluctuates and the tachometer pointer is between 800 and 1200 r/min. There is a regular swing, the fault light does not shine.
Since the fault occurs in the transition from the cold machine to the thermal engine, it is important to check the cold idle control system. Among them, the water-heating type idle speed valve is one of the important components of the idle engine speed idle control system. The valve is located below the throttle body, and its opening and closing movement principle is similar to the paraffin type thermostat. That is, the water-heated idle speed valve does not have air to the intake chamber at the rear of the throttle when it is warm. To remove the plastic air inlet in front of the throttle valve, you can see that there is a round hole with a diameter of about 12mm below the throttle body. This hole leads to the intake passage of the water-heated idle speed valve. According to the working principle of the water-heating type idle valve, it is normal that air flows through this hole when it is cold, and air flow through this hole is abnormal during the heat engine. When the author presses his finger on the hole, the engine speed changes significantly and does not change suddenly. The pointer shows 750 r/min. It can be seen that the cause of the fault is in the part of the water-heating idle valve. For the sake of caution, the valve was placed in cold water and boiled in boiling water. The result confirmed that the valve was good.
Since the valve is good, where is the problem? At this time, when the small water pipe that leads to the thermostat seat is removed, the temperature of the coolant in the small water pipe is not high and it is not hot. At that time, the temperature of the coolant in the tank was very hot, and the temperature difference between the two was also very high. Then, why is the coolant in the small water pipe so much different from the coolant in the water tank? Will this small water pipe be blocked? After careful observation, the middle part of the small water pipe connected to the water-heating idle speed valve was found to be iron, iron. The water pipe is U-shaped, and the rubber pipes at both ends are respectively connected with the water-heating type idle speed valve and the thermostat seat. Remove the iron tube and blow it with compressed air. After the iron wire was dredged, many grayish-white powdery things were cleared. It was estimated that the metal chips were corroded by poor quality antifreeze solution. The water pressure of the pump pumped the corroded metal chips here. Since the iron water pipe is fine (with an inner diameter of about 5mm) and both ends turn, most of the corroded metal is easily trapped at the turning point of the metal water pipe, causing the temperature of the coolant in the water pipe to be lower than the coolant temperature of the engine cycle. Low, water-heated idling valves open the air bypass valve due to perceived low coolant temperature. When the engine is cold, the temperature of the coolant in the small water pipe is low, so that the air bypass valve of the water-heating type idle valve is opened, more air enters the cylinder, and the engine speed reaches 1200 r/min, which is in a normal cold high idle condition. When the engine is warm, this extra air enters the cylinder through the bypass valve and the engine speed increases. The ECU judges that the idle speed is too high when the engine is warmed up based on the coolant temperature sensor, the engine speed sensor, and the throttle idle switch position signal, thus forcing the engine speed down. However, due to air leakage from the water-heating idle speed valve, the degree of vacuum behind the throttle is less than the vacuum at normal idle speed, and the vacuum level sensed by the intake pressure sensor is lower than the vacuum at normal idle speed because of the degree of vacuum felt by the intake pressure sensor. The signal is one of the signals that most influence the amount of fuel injected (the lower the vacuum, the greater the amount of fuel injected). With more than one fuel injection, the engine speed is increased, and the ECU considers the coolant temperature sensor and the engine speed and the throttle idle switch position signal that the idle speed is too high and that the speed is forced to decrease. Repeatedly there has been a sudden failure of the engine speed.
Finally, after replacing the water pipe between the water-heating type idle speed valve and the thermostat seat, troubleshooting was performed.
The fault often occurs in the Honda Accord F22XX series engine with a water-heating idle speed valve, the symptoms of the symptoms are idle instability, traveling and idle speed fluctuations, the majority of failures are caused by the water-heated idle speed valve and its connected Bend can not work properly.
