Training for propane fires

Firefighters from several departments in the northern and northwestern suburbs recently had a valuable opportunity to practice handling propane fires, an essential skill for responding to real-life emergencies. These training sessions provided hands-on experience and helped improve coordination among teams.

Tim Olk was present at the training held in Highland Park, which included participation from firefighters from Glencoe, Highland Park, Libertyville, and Lake Bluff. The exercises focused on safely managing liquid propane fires, which can be particularly dangerous due to their explosive nature.

Larry Shapiro captured the action during a similar training event in Buffalo Grove, where crews from Wheeling, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Mundelein, and Libertyville worked together. The drills emphasized teamwork, communication, and the proper use of equipment when dealing with high-intensity propane fires.
