Shanghai GM recalls more than 230,000 vehicles with hidden fuel leaks

Yesterday, Shanghai General Motors Corporation recalled some 2.0L and 2.4L new Regal, which were produced from September 18, 2008 to October 14, 2010, with 133,074 vehicles, and from April 20, 2009 to October 2010. Some 2.4L new LaCrosse produced on the 14th of this month had 99,857 vehicles.

Yesterday, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued an announcement saying that the reason for this recall was that the engine fuel pipe may be disconnected under extreme conditions, causing fuel leakage and causing the vehicle to stall or fail to start. If there is an external open flame, there is a hidden danger of fire. For this purpose, Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd. will take measures to replace fuel pipes within the recalled area to eliminate hidden dangers. According to statistics from General Motors Corporation, the total number of recalls exceeds 230,000 vehicles, but vehicles outside the recall scope are not affected, including the new Regal 1.6T, 2.0T, and the new LaCrosse 2.0T and 3.0L models that are not included in this recall.

It is reported that Shanghai General Motors Buick Special Service Center will take the initiative to contact the users within the scope of the recall to arrange free maintenance.
