China National Heavy Duty Truck: Winning on the engine

In the first quarter of 2007, sales in the heavy-duty truck industry increased by 59% year-on-year, and sales exceeded 100,000 vehicles. This figure was 35 percentage points higher than that of 2004, which was in the high growth period of heavy trucks. Faced with the sudden heat wave of demand, many truck companies have adjusted their product mix and increased production capacity in an effort to capture market opportunities.

In this competition for market opportunities, Sinotruck relied on sales of 23,000 heavy-duty trucks in the first quarter; export orders exceeded 4000 units; and in March, a series of impressive performances such as the production and sales of 10,000 heavy-duty trucks in one month became the industry leader. .

For these achievements, Li Pengxing, manager of China National Heavy Duty Truck Marketing Group, believes that this is inseparable from Sinotruk's grasp of market changes and continuous improvement in the competitiveness of engine products. "Since 2004, the pattern of China's heavy-duty truck industry has quietly shifted to the heavy-duty truck market. This is precisely the advantage area of China National Heavy Duty Truck. Sinotruk seized this opportunity."

Li Pengxing told reporters that in the first quarter of 2004, the market share of the top two heavy trucks (Dongfeng and FAW) totaled 64.5%, while the market share of the second echelon (four companies) headed by Sinotruck was only 28.2%. Sinotruk’s share is 10.9%. In the first quarter of 2007, the market share of the two largest companies in the former two companies has dropped to 38.95%, a decrease of 25 percentage points from the first quarter of 2004; and the total share of the four companies in the former second tier has reached 50.94%. , an increase of 22 percentage points, of which China's heavy truck market share has reached 22%, ranking first in heavy truck industry.

Li Pengxing said that this change reflects the shift in market demand to high-tonnage high-margin products. In this process of transformation, China National Heavy Duty Truck provided a powerful guarantee for the continuous improvement and promotion of the engine for its steady increase in market share.

According to Li Pengxing, in 2005, CNHTC invested nearly 1 billion yuan to build China National Heavy Duty Truck engine base, and thus it has two major engine bases in Jinan and Hangzhou. China National Heavy Duty Truck conducted a comprehensive technical improvement and enhancement of the 17 problems with the highest failure rate of the original Steyr engine technology. In 2006, the company successfully developed the first double-rotation inlet and oil bath air filter in China. In 2007, a new concept engine was launched for all CNHTC products.

Li Pengxing said that for several years China National Heavy Duty Truck has continuously converted the important components of the engine into an internationally renowned brand product supplier. For example, the air compressor now uses the high-pressure technology double-cylinder air compressor from WABCO of Germany, and the after-sales failure rate has rapidly dropped from the former 10 to "0", and at the same time, the reliability of the braking system has been greatly improved. "Although the cost increased by more than 1,000 yuan, it will undoubtedly bring greater benefits to customers."

In respect of fuel economy, China National Heavy Duty Truck launched the fuel economy II engine in July 2006, which resulted in a significant drop in fuel consumption. The 100 kilometers is lower than the fuel consumption of more than 3 liters of similar engines. The fuel-saving effect exhibited on dump trucks, mixer trucks and large-tonnage transport vehicles has brought the market to its attention.

“Those new customers turned from hesitation and hesitation to recognition, praise, and repeat purchases. In last year alone, we sold more than 60,000 engines.” Li Pengxing said, “If there are more than 500 users in Northeast China, The old engine that had not reached the end of the scrapping period was replaced by China National Heavy Duty Truck Engine Co., Ltd., and only Shenyang has more than 100 users replaced."

In emissions technology, Li Pengxing said that the new concept engine that was fully-listed in 2007 adopted advanced environmental protection technology. Its double-swirl inlet design fully exploited the aerodynamic principle, and the moisture in the air passed through the shutters and the flaps. Afterwards, gravity is used to flow out of the dust outlet. The dust in the air forms a swirling flow under the action of the swirling disc. The larger dust particles are separated out and eliminated under the action of centrifugal force, so that the water removal rate reaches 100% and the dust removal rate reaches over 87%. Environmental standards.

For the country's upcoming full implementation of the national 3 standard and the national 4 standard implemented approximately three years later, Li Pengxing believes that for the enterprise, those product types are aging, the new generation products do not reach 30% of the total product volume, and new product sales are difficult Producers that break through the total amount of 15% will be greatly affected; for the market, the traditional market structure under the new national standard 3 will be broken, and the national market will become a new battlefield for the reshuffling of all parties; For example, under the constraints of the new standards, heavy-duty truck products will set off a new wave of technological advancement. The advancement in vehicle technology will cause the sales of low-tech and low-cost products to rapidly shrink; for users, the country's 3 new standards will In combination with factors such as toll-by-weight, highway management, and high-efficiency vehicles, customers guiding the update of old models will use the most reliable, high-tech vehicle models that are most suitable for their operational efficiency.

In light of the above factors, Li Pengxing is very optimistic about the prospects of China National Heavy Duty Autonomous Power's three engines.

Li Pengxing said that China National Heavy Duty Truck 3 Engine adopts a new generation of electronically controlled common-rail fuel injection system and a four-valve structure. The excellent combustion and inflating capabilities have significantly improved the engine's power performance. With the engine displacement unchanged, the maximum power of the engine can reach 294kW, ie 400 horsepower. The common rail pressure of the electronically controlled common-rail fuel system can reach 180 MPa. With appropriate improvements, the Euro IV emission requirements that will be implemented in the future can be met, and the noise can be reduced to 97 dB (A) or less. At the same time, 80% of the parts of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group and Steyr WD615II are universal, and the installation and connection dimensions of the entire vehicle are basically the same as those of the original Euro II emission WD615, with good inheritance and commonality. Manufacturers manufacturing and end-user maintenance, parts procurement provides a great convenience.

Li Pengxing stated that the National 3rd Prince of Gold Heavy Trucks and the National 3HOWO8 series heavy trucks meet the multi-level demands of the market for the country's 3 heavy truck products. With the full implementation of the National 3rd emission standard on July 1, China National Heavy Duty Trucks will lead the country in the 3 heavy truck product market. Status will be further consolidated.
