Renault's OptiTrack implements front-wheel drive in a manner that is different from ordinary all-wheel-drive power splitters. The front axle is driven in a manner similar to the MAN HydroDrive front axle drive. The MAN HydroDrive front axle drive principle is shown in the figure below. The wheel's hydraulic pump and motor provide front-wheel drive, both running hydraulic pumps and control valves come from the same parts supplier Poclain. However, Renault's OptiTrack takes power from the engine's PTO, which draws power from the rear of the transmission.

By cooperating with the Optidriver+ engineering vehicle automatic transmission, the vehicle can easily realize the conversion of the drive form. In the event of muddy or slippery road surfaces or other conditions, the front wheel drive can be activated to provide more grip for the vehicle and improve vehicle passability. On flat roads, only rear-wheel drive is required. When the vehicle speed is higher than 30km/h, the vehicle will be automatically converted from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.
