4X2 easily becomes 4X4 Renault OptiTrack IAA starter

All-wheel drive models are generally only visible on top of military vehicles. The biggest advantage of all-wheel drive models is their greater passability and ability to adapt to harsher road conditions. However, with all-wheel drive, performance in speed and fuel economy is not good enough. The operating environment of general engineering vehicles is rather complicated. Sometimes there are wet or slippery roads. In some cases, they need to be driven on flat roads quickly. How to solve the contradiction between vehicle passing and fuel economy?

Renault's OptiTrack system offers a very good solution. The two-axle tractor can switch freely between the 4X2 and 4X4 drive types.

Renault will start Optitrack technology at this year's IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover.

Renault's OptiTrack implements front-wheel drive in a manner that is different from ordinary all-wheel-drive power splitters. The front axle is driven in a manner similar to the MAN HydroDrive front axle drive. The MAN HydroDrive front axle drive principle is shown in the figure below. The wheel's hydraulic pump and motor provide front-wheel drive, both running hydraulic pumps and control valves come from the same parts supplier Poclain. However, Renault's OptiTrack takes power from the engine's PTO, which draws power from the rear of the transmission.

By cooperating with the Optidriver+ engineering vehicle automatic transmission, the vehicle can easily realize the conversion of the drive form. In the event of muddy or slippery road surfaces or other conditions, the front wheel drive can be activated to provide more grip for the vehicle and improve vehicle passability. On flat roads, only rear-wheel drive is required. When the vehicle speed is higher than 30km/h, the vehicle will be automatically converted from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.
