Kashgar heavy truck market prospects

The city of Kashi is a border city in the western part of the motherland. The roads extend in all directions, and radiation to Aksu, Korla, Hotan and other areas. The neighboring borders with the five countries, with its unique geographical advantages of “five to eight countries, all the way to Europe and Asia”, is an important gateway to China’s opening to the west. All this has created Kashi's unique market position in the truck market.

From January 8 to January 11, the reporter came to Kashgar, Xinjiang to investigate the local truck market.

Good policy promotes the development of heavy trucks

“Compared with the eastern and central regions, the demand for the heavy truck market in Kashgar has decreased slightly. This is mainly due to the state's full support for the development of the western region and the gradual implementation of the policy for aiding the country.” Baotou Beiben Heavy-Duty Truck Co., Ltd. Sales Company Jiangbei Shi Zhiqiang, branch manager, told reporters that since Kashgar has a number of aid projects in Xinjiang, it is different from the project that was forced to suspend work in the eastern part of the country. The key project in Kashgar is still under construction. In addition, infrastructure and mineral development in the region have also been carried out in an orderly manner, ensuring that the demand for heavy trucks is relatively stable.

In response, Wang Song, Sales Manager of Kashi, Xinjiang Dilingjie Automobile Sales & Service Group Co., Ltd. agreed. “In recent years, the heavy truck market in Xinjiang has been developing very rapidly, especially in the Kashgar region.” Wang Song said: “In May 2010, Kashgar formally established a special economic zone, and its infrastructure construction began to accelerate, whether it is civil or mineral development. In the past 1 to 2 years, there has been considerable development. At present, many customers in the eastern region have come to Kashgar to engage in mining operations."

In the mining process, the dump truck will naturally disappear. According to Wang Song, as the most popular model in Kashgar, dump trucks account for about 80% of the local heavy truck demand. “In recent years, the rapid development of the mining industry in Kashgar, coupled with the large number of mining areas around the local (such as: Taxian County, Atushi, Wuchai County, etc.), the demand for dump trucks is increasing year by year.” Wang Song said.

In addition, road construction has also boosted the demand for dump trucks. It is understood that at present, Aksu-Kashgar, Kashgar-Yancheng, Kashi-Istanbul and other highways are under construction. The roads have been continuously built and the routes have been continuously improved. The demand for dump trucks will increase further.

For smaller tractors, sales have increased with the development of road transport and logistics in the region.

“Kashgar's traction model is mainly used for transporting goods between Urumqi and the rest of the country,” Wang Song told reporters. “Kashi is 500 kilometers away from Urumqi. Except for valuable goods and seafood, it is transported by road. In recent years, with the rapid economic development, business contacts have been increasing in different regions, which has promoted the development of tractor sales in a good direction."

In addition, according to Mr. Zhang, a heavy truck dealer in the Kashgar region, in the heavy-duty brand competition, Auman heavy trucks have a large share in Kashgar, followed by Shaanxi Automobile, Dongfeng, and Beiben.

Foreign vehicles become obstacles

Although the Kashgar heavy truck market tends to be positive, it will inevitably be affected by the gloomy market in the east.

“The downturn in the national heavy truck market has made Xinjiang regions unable to stand alone.” Shi Zhiqiang said that at present, due to the cold weather in the heavy truck market in Xinjiang, Xinjiang has maintained a relatively good state, causing vehicles in Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Anhui and Gansu Influx into the Xinjiang market, Kashgar gathered a large number of foreign vehicles, resulting in market disorder, heavy truck demand substantially reduced, directly affecting the sales performance of heavy trucks in various brands.

“In Kashgar, we often see the situation of foreign vehicles rushing to work, causing the transportation market to have more cars and less cars.” Jin Guozhi, general manager of Urumqi Xinhongzhi Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. told reporters that the most common situation is: foreign users are After buying a car, go to Kashi to find a business. In order to be more competitive, their tariffs, which are at least 30% lower than those of local vehicles, have led directly to confusion in the market order and the situation in which the owners are unable to earn money. In order to avoid excessive losses, local users can only stop the vehicle, so they will not even consider updating the vehicle. ”

In addition to external factors, frequent accidents have also hindered the development of the heavy truck market.

“In 2012, Kashgar and Aksu had successively experienced major traffic accidents. In order to ensure the safety of traffic, the relevant departments required the dump trucks to remove the height-raising panels, which was a big blow to the transport users.” Mr. Zhang said that the previous dump trucks had run As soon as a job can pull 50 tons to 60 tons of goods, remove the heightening plate, the vehicle can not even pull 30 tons of cargo, resulting in reduced car owners income. In addition, the pay of heavy truck drivers has also increased year by year. Now it is around 6,500 yuan per month, plus other expenses such as fuel costs. If the freight costs cannot be increased, the owner will certainly lose money.

"In addition, after the '730' incident occurred in Kashgar, the originally prosperous real estate also entered the freezing point." Wang Song told reporters: "After Kashi became a special economic zone, the real estate industry has been greatly developed. Even in the national housing price 'diving' During the period of decline, the local area only dropped by a few hundred yuan and was basically unaffected. However, after the '730' incident, investors left one after another, resulting in a high vacancy rate and the industry is gradually stagnating.

It is understood that due to the above-mentioned external factors and internal factors, the total sales of heavy trucks in Kashgar dropped by about 25% year-on-year in 2012. Better than projects in the east of the city (Shanxi, Inner Mongolia heavy truck sales fell by 40% to 50%).

The border trade is not obvious

Kashgar is a border city in southern Xinjiang. As an important commercial town on the ancient Silk Road, Kashgar has become a trade channel to foreign countries thanks to its location advantage of “Five Through Eight Countries.” However, the effect of border trade on pulling heavy truck sales in recent years is not obvious.

It is understood that the border trade in Kashgar is mainly the mutual delivery of daily necessities between neighboring countries and coal from Kyrgyzstan to eastern China.

“The superior geographical advantages of Kashi have led to the development of border trade. Especially in the summer, trade exchanges are frequent. At the border crossings, heavy trucks can often be seen traveling between the two places.” However, Wang Song also admitted that although the border trade exchanges Close, but transport vehicles are limited by the time of retreat. “Kashi generally retreats its borders with neighboring countries for a period of 3 to 4 months each year, which greatly restricts the development of border trade. In addition, Xinjiang is very cold in winter and trade exchanges are gradually declining. Therefore, vehicles engaged in border transportation are not Too much."

“In addition, the main reason for not being able to drive sales of heavy trucks is that most of the vehicles engaged in border trade are from Urumqi and eastern China. There are very few vehicles engaged in border trade in this region of Kashgar,” said Wang Song.

Refueling station becomes the bottleneck in the development of LNG vehicles

As we all know, Xinjiang has abundant natural gas resources, and it has also taken the lead in the application and development of natural gas in the country. However, the current Kashgar LNG heavy truck has not been well developed. The reason is that the refueling problem has become the biggest bottleneck.

“In the Kashgar region, LNG heavy trucks have been trapped in fewer refueling stations. If they can break through, the market prospects will be very bright.” Liao Qingrong, general manager of the transportation department of Tarim Petroleum Exploration and Development Co., Ltd., told reporters that LNG models have traditional diesel The unparalleled economy of the car. Compared with conventional heavy trucks, LNG heavy trucks are sold at a price of 80,000 to 100,000 yuan, but the fuel saving cost is about 15% to 30%, which is equivalent to an LNG heavy truck operating for one year to recover the cost of car purchase. More than 80,000 to 100,000 yuan more profit than diesel heavy trucks. “However, Xinjiang LNG refueling stations are mainly distributed in northern Xinjiang, while southern Xinjiang is still in the initial stage of LNG. Its economic backwardness and relatively small total transport volume have restricted the construction speed of gas filling stations. This is also a lot of logistics companies and individuals. Transporters are worried about it," said Liao Qingrong.

In addition, Liao Qingrong also believes that the main reason for the difficulties in the rapid construction of Xinjiang LNG filling stations is the difficulty in the allocation of construction land and project approval. “At present, the establishment of a gas filling station requires a lot of time for the approval process, which not only requires a lot of time, but also costs the company to invest in it, virtually obstructing the construction of the gas filling station, and it also severely frustrates the enthusiasm of related companies. ”

Therefore, he suggested that all local governments in Xinjiang should include LNG refueling stations in planning and allocation of site-building land, and simplify the approval process as much as possible, and implement “one-stop” services to promote the construction of gas filling stations to speed up the advancement of Xinjiang LNG. There are few refueling stations and logistics companies are inconvenient to inject gas.

Because of geographical location, Kashi has a long distance from other places. Vehicles may not add gas on the way. “Liao Qingrong told reporters:” If LNG heavy trucks are equipped with two gas tanks, they can travel about 700 to 800 kilometers. It is very likely that the LNG heavy truck will break its gear because there is no gas filling station. If the LNG refueling station cannot be found anytime, anywhere, then there is always a risk of transportation. ”
