Still & Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 6-10-16

The city had a fire today at 5311 and 5313 Laflin. Two, 2.5-story frame homes were involved, with heavy fire in the rear. Engines 123, 116, and 49 all deployed multiple lines, while Tower 39 was on the roof with their main line. I arrived after most of the fire had been knocked down, but there was still a lot of smoke and damage to deal with.

The scene was intense, with crews working hard under the heat. It’s always sobering to see the aftermath of such fires, especially when they hit residential areas. The firefighters did an excellent job, and it’s clear how much effort goes into each response. These photos give a real sense of the work they do every day.
