Zhao Yanxia, a researcher at the Agriculture Department, said: “At present, the vast majority of chemical companies in China have almost no knowledge of the European Union’s “Regulations on Chemicals Registration, Evaluation, and Licensing (Draft)” (REACH regulations). This phenomenon is very dangerous. It must arouse the vigilance and attention of relevant government departments, industry associations and the business community."
Zhao Yanxia said that recently, the World Trade Organization Department of the Ministry of Commerce and relevant industry associations have conducted investigations and studies on chemical companies in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, etc. on issues such as the assessment of REACH regulations. The results were surprising. Most enterprises were This is a reflection of indifference and feels very sad.

Zhao Yanxia said that at present, many countries and international organizations in the world are conscientiously studying the impact of REACH regulations on domestic and regional companies, and using the notification mechanism of the WTO/TBT Committee to express their opinions to the EU. By the end of 2007, WTO members also had two opportunities for commenting and influencing EU legislation.

China has already put forward official comments on REACH regulations, but the review work has stayed more in government and industry associations, and the participation of enterprises has been very small. At present, the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, the China Minmetals Chemicals Import & Export Chamber of Commerce, etc. form a working group to evaluate the impact of the REACH Regulation on enterprises, on the actual impact they may have on China’s industries and enterprises, and on countermeasures, etc. Conduct research.
