270.49 mph.
You're not mistaken, Hennessy Performance Engineering's Texas Supercar builder has set a new world record to make the venom GT car the fastest.
Venom test on February 14th. Driver Brian Smith, Miller took a 3.2-mile shuttle landing runway at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Based on a highly-modified Lotus Exige chassis, Venom has a crazy 1244-horsepower twin-turbo engine that takes only 10 seconds from 0-220 mph.
At Hennessy’s press conference, Smith thought he could run faster. "If we can run in an 8-mile oval we can be faster than that. Hey, we're 270 miles! The Venom GT doesn't require any major corrections, and the Michelin tires have good traction."
The previous record was set in the 2010 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with a score of 269.86 mph.
