In 2001, they seized 2,326 old tires, 8414 old household appliances, 339 old computers, 84 old automobile cutting parts, and 3 old excavators and their accessories. The case value was 2.84 million yuan.
According to the Guangzhou Customs, there are three main channels for the smuggling of “foreign garbage†into the country. First, small ships crews from Hong Kong and Macao were sneaked into the country; secondly, false declarations of goods were smeared; Guangzhou Customs had seized a case that used imported plastics as a cover for concealing old printers, old calculators and other goods; Third, in order to evade the approval of the permit, the old excavator will be converted into other construction machinery or disassembled and then the machinery accessories will be misrepresented.
